Toronto – Eritrea’s Civil Aviation Authority has reportedly sued Ethiopian Airlines seeking U.S. $3 million dollar compensation “for the loss of 450 pieces of luggage,” as reported by an Eritrean News outlet. While it is indicated that the lawsuit is filed in court in Asmara, it is unspecified as to when it was filed.
Eritrea is also making $570,000 claims ” for unpaid services provided to the airline 25 years ago, which the airline has not settled,” as reported by TesfaNews, Eritrean news source.
It is also unclear if Ethiopian Airlines is notified about. The airline has not yet remarked about it.
In early September this year, Ethiopian Airlines suspended flights to Asmara after the Eritrean government allegedly froze the bank accounts of the airline in Asmara.
The airlines learned about account freeze when an Ethiopian Airlines agent in Asmara attempted to deposit cash from ticket sales on August 31. The airlines claimed that that “made it difficult to make service payments to the Eritrean government and also to Ethiopian Airlines employees in Asmara,” and the airlines had to suspend operation. The amount of money that the Eritrean government froze from Ethiopian Airlines Bank account in Asmara is unspecified.
Before suspending the flight, Ethiopian airlines had two daily flights to the Eritrean capital.
Eritrean Civil Aviation was complaining about unfair ticket pricing and “lost luggage” in the past few months. However, the “unpaid” service fee from over 25 years ago – apparently before the two years Ethio-Eritrean war – was not mentioned at any point during the recent controversy.

How about the compensation for Ethiopian invasion of an independent Eritrea in 1896 at Adwa, 1941 at Keren and 1998 at Nakfa where more than 15 millions Eritrean civilians were brutally murdered and property destroyed valued at more than 259 billion in US dollars? This is just a tip of the iceberg. Ethiopia has more to cough up yet.
Boy, I hate Ethiopia! That is why I did this.
Folks! I just accomplished what has been my number one lifetime ambition. I was able to bunch up that thing called Ethiopia into my left hand and destroyed into smithereens that can never be salvageable with my right hand. To achieve that I had to wipe out every living breathing Amhara, Oromo and their sympathetic Issa, Afar, Sidama, Gambela, Beni and 80 other Amhara and Oromo huggers. That Ethiopia has been a bad example for all other colored people who refused to be ruled by colonial masters. Folks, our long global nightmare is over! I have killed Ethiopia. That has made bigots and connivers in Minnesota. LA, Michigan, Tennessee, Oslo and Down Under so happy that they have been dancing in the streets for days since I smoked Ethiopia. Siad Barre’s cousin and the only person who knows what the correct foreign policy of USA on the Horn of Africa should be, Af-Mishaar, is as happy as a kid at a chocolate factory. Now, the keys to the GERD dam is in the hands of my benefactor el-Sisi, Ogaden has been given to Somalia and all mines of precious metals and all exports of coffee, hides, flowers and oil seeds has been presented to Eritrea. Am I genius or what!!!!!
Well said brother
I told you! I told you!! I told you!!! Ethiopia and Eritrea were supposed to play two matches in CHAN group stage but both games were cancelled because Ethiopia withdrew from the competition. It was so scared of Eritrea that it decided to disqualify itself. It is said that every African team is so scared of the Eritrean team that the league decided to let Eritrea advance to the final. I am flying to Asmara tomorrow to personally congratulate the people there. See, I told you I am the best reporter in the world! Am I genius or what!!!
