Toronto – Fano Forces have reportedly launched ambush attacks on government forces in Wollo and Shewa this week.

On November 23, the combatants attacked a Defense Force and Anti-Riot forces camp in Debre Berhan city which is about 120 kilometers north of the capital Addis Ababa. According to Ethio News, which cites sources from the area, the attack occurred around 4 p.m.

Without specifying numbers, the source stated that government forces suffered a severe loss. Fighting continued until around 10 p.m. in the evening.

On November 24, Fano Forces reportedly launched another ambush in the north, near Woldia. According to the source, government forces were heading to the city from Sanka town, located to the northwest of Woldia.

The source also reported that government forces were forced to retreat back to Sanka after suffering heavy casualties. Again, the number of casualties was unspecified.

In Gojam, government officials were reportedly attacked with a hand grenade in Motta town. This incident occurred on Saturday around 1:45 p.m. local time. A senior ruling party official in the city was reportedly killed in the attack. There were also reports of wounded individuals being taken to the hospital, according to the source.

Berhanu Abeje, Media Sector Head of the Amhara Fano in Gojjam, has confirmed the attack. However, the number of casualties remains unconfirmed.

In the northwest, intense battles were reported in the Metema and Armachiho areas as government forces attempted to take control. However, the mission reportedly failed after six days of fighting, with Fano Forces successfully defending the area.

Despite these developments, the Ethiopian government has neither denied nor confirmed the latest reports from local sources. However, it has claimed significant military gains in its fight against Fano Forces in South Gondar. Defense Force Chief and other senior military officials held a meeting with Amhara region officials about a week ago. The goal is to end the conflict in the region by the end of December by “totally defeating” Fano Forces, or else the Defense Force will withdraw from the region. https://borkena.com/2024/11/18/defense-force-chief-reportedly-threatens-amhara-region-officials-over-alleged-support-for-fano/

Although the state of emergency has ended in the Amhara region, the region remains inaccessible to reporters and human rights advocates. Most of the information about the war in the Amhara region comes from Ethiopian sources with connections on the ground, as the conflict continues to be underreported in Western mainstream media.

Meanwhile, Anchor Media reported on Saturday that Abiy Ahmed’s government is working to designate Fano Forces as a “terrorist” organization.

In recent days, the government has mounted a narrative against Fano Forces, framing the unverified incident in Dera, North Shoa. Enat Party, an opposition party, questions what is fundamentally different from many other killings in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. Thousands of ethnic Amhara civilians in the Oromia region have been massacred over the past six years.

  1. Is this supposed to good news? What is good about one young man killing and maiming another young countryman? All these young men and women were supposed to be in schools catching with the rest of the advancing world. But that is not to be. They have been bamboozled and hoodwinked by connivers specialized in feeding on the raw emotions of the hapless and naive youth. It is being pushed out cities, towns and small towns by cruel despots just to end up being the cannon fodder for the bigots camping out at some forsaken wilderness both in Amhara and Oromia regions. It ain’t all dandy for the youth of that country.

What makes me even sadder is there those among us who are using the stupid conflicts as a means to line their pockets. These shameless and faceless individuals are sending their children and grandchildren here to schools, after school activities and entertainment venues while urging and instigating the youth in the old country to kill and maim each other. They make that Oromo young man to hate everyone including those who they call Neo-Gobana Oromos except Oromos. They say anything to make that Amhara youth hate everyone else including those Amharas they call ‘Bandas’. They use terms like “neftgnas’, ‘Woyanes’ and ‘Oromummaa’ as pejoratives for their craft. Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn you niggers!!!!

Woe! Woe! Woe! Woe for those gullible young people in the old country!!!
