The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has earmarked Friday November 28 this year as the day on which the southwestern African nation will hold its fifth post-independence Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
In a statement released Tuesday, the ECN said the election day will be proclaimed and published in the Government Gazette by President Hifikepunye Pohamba on October 13.
Polls at Namibia’s foreign missions and for seagoing personnel will be conducted on November 14, two weeks before the start of the one-day elections.
Ruling Swapo party’s presidential candidate, Prime Minister Hage Geingob, is expected to be voted in as the country’s third democratically elected president while the party is expected to retain its two-thirds majority in parliament.
