The Abiy Ahmed government, despite the devastation wrought by its actions in Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia, appears to have learned little from the consequences of its reckless behavior. A culture of impunity, fostered by a lack of accountability and a lack of international pressure, has emboldened the regime to continue its warmongering policies.
According financial times report about the brutal civil war in northern Ethiopia may have killed as many as 600,000 people, making it one of the world’s deadliest conflicts of recent times, according to the African Union’s lead mediator in the peace talks that ended the two year conflict. The ongoing war in Amhara and Oromia has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with many people dead and countless more suffering.
The Abiy government has consistently shirked responsibility for the atrocities committed in Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia. Instead of acknowledging the crimes committed by its forces and those allied with them, the government has engaged in a campaign of denial, downplaying the scale of the violence and blaming its victims. This lack of accountability has created a dangerous precedent, signalling to the government that it can engage in violence with impunity.
The international community, while expressing concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia, has been hesitant to take decisive action against the Abiy regime. The continued flow of loans from organizations like the IMF and World Bank, despite the blatant human rights abuses, has inadvertently propped up the regime and emboldened its warmongering behavior.
Abiy’s recent pronouncements, threatening renewed conflict with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), demonstrate his unwillingness to pursue peaceful solutions. He has shown no remorse for the devastating consequences of his previous military actions and appears determined to escalate the conflict further. His government’s actions are a testament to a dangerous pattern: the escalation of violence without fear of repercussions.
On July 22, 2024, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a meeting with political party representatives to discuss cooperation on national issues. This meeting was a continuation of an earlier gathering in April, where a direction was set for discussions to continue at various levels. The purpose of the meeting was to build upon the previous discussions and work towards reaching a consensus on national issues of significance to all. During this meeting with opposition party leaders, he stated that: “My advice is simple. It is important to remember that in the past, when the Election Board announced it would postpone the election, many of us agreed, while the TPLF did not, which led to a crisis. You can imagine how many lives were destroyed and how much wealth was destroyed. This destruction of wealth and human resources occurred without proper assessment. It is not wise to bring about another calamity due to past losses, as the public will suffer. As you know, we made improvements in the past. We amended the law so that the TPLF and similar parties could be legally registered and recognized as legitimate political entities. This indicates that the government is interested in a peaceful resolution. Subsequently, discussions took place. The prosecutor informed the Election Board that he had the necessary documentation. We have completed 100% of the executive work required for the Election Board to perform its duties, including checking candidates and allowing them to participate appropriately. There were discussions at various levels, including government-to-government conversations. We addressed all questions raised. What the TPLF needs to do now is go to the Election Board within two to three weeks, complete the required documents, and legally register or renew its licence. A meeting should be held for this purpose. If they fail to do so, the Election Board may deem their participation worthless, regardless of my personal wishes. If the Election Board does not accept them, they cannot participate in the election without legal status; it cannot be the government’s responsibility. What does it mean to revert to war? If we return to conflict or engage in arguments, it will be easy to undo all that has been accomplished—the laws have been established, agreements made, and remaining issues can be resolved through legal means, returning political stability to the system. The primary beneficiary of this process is the TPLF, and it is unwise to overlook a peaceful solution when the context is settled and law restored. This situation affects not only Tigray but could lead to a total disaster for everyone involved. I hope they will reconsider their position, choose a peaceful path, and recognize that this issue pertains to the Election Board.”
The Abiy government has no space for political parties that engage in peaceful political positioning. Instead, it engages in discussions with those involved in military struggle who believe that solutions come from the barrel of a gun. This attitude stems from Abiy’s approach to violence and his lack of belief in peaceful means.
Ethiopia’s future hinges on a commitment to justice and accountability. The international community must break its silence and impose meaningful consequences for the Abiy regime’s crimes. This includes targeted sanctions, the suspension of aid, and the referral of perpetrators to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Ethiopian people, exhausted by a decade of conflict, deserve a government that prioritizes peace and reconciliation, not one that fuels perpetual violence.
The Ethiopian people, having borne the brunt of the regime’s warmongering policies, are calling for an end to the violence. They demand accountability for the crimes committed and a commitment to a peaceful future. The international community must heed their call and hold the Abiy government accountable for its actions. The path to peace, reconciliation, and a brighter future for Ethiopia lies in breaking the cycle of violence and establishing a just and equitable society.

Abiy Amhed is an Ethiopian horendous, terrible, barbaric, merciless, and genocidal dropbear that attacks unsuspecting victims similar to the Australian animal. The Ethiopians were cheering for his sugar-coated words and deluded by his threacherous personality.
When Abiy Ahmd was crowned to become the 7th King of Ethiopia, cheering swelled through the wall, and it could be heard half a mile away.People nicknamed him Moses, Prophet, etc.
