The Rosses of Addis _ By Mengistu Asfaw

The Roses of Addis Ababa are bleeding,
***
From garrisons to villages, diversity’s thread
Unravels the fabric of Menelik’s noble deed

Empress Taitu’s mosaic
A timestamp of dignity, etched in history’s creed
The citadel of Adowa, fortress of bravery’s shield
Black men’s victory, shattering chains, defying yield
Crashing white supremacy’s waves, liberty’s call

Addis Ababa, the symbol of freedom stand
Losing pride and dignity, plowed under the cruel hand
Evil erases history, the devil rises high
Lofty towers crumbling, beloved city, ask why
Prosperity’s evil reality, Babylon’s dark tower
Awaiting reckoning, payment for past transgressions’ hour
Not far on the horizon, justice will unfold
