Toronto – The Fano forces in North Gondar are claiming significant military gains over government forces. They report that they have killed and wounded more than 100 government soldiers from a battle near Quara. 70 firearms arms were seized.
The intense battle took place on Friday, Ethio Focus, a local news source reported citing sources from the area. Fano forces reported six casualties – wounded and dead.
In Gojjam, Asres Mare Damtie (Fano leader in the area ) reported there was a battle in the Debo area on the same day. 17 government forces were killed and seven others injured. The condition of those injured is said to be a serious one. He also said that a vehicle and several firearms along with 3,0000 ammunition was seized.
Another battle was reported in the Agew Meder area of Gojjam. Asres reports that three divisions in the area have “inflicted heavy human and material loss over the invading army.” Two military commanders (majors) are killed in combat, he stated in an update he shared on his social media page.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has reportedly encountered a different crisis in the South Gondar area of Gondar. Sources say it suffered mass desertion from forces who were deployed in the Ebnat area of South Gondar. Dozens of soldiers have walked to the Fano zone to join them.
In North Wollo, Harbu area Fano forces have reportedly launched an ambush attack on forces who were escorting officials. A vehicle that was in use is reportedly damaged. Still in North Wollo, 10 militia forces have joined Fano forces.
No reports of latest engagement from Shoa area of the Amhara region.
On the other hand, Ethiopian Defense Force still claims that it has weakened Fano forces. It did not remark on the latest claims from Fano forces. In the past few days, there were reports from local sources that the Defense Force has finalized plans to leave the Amhara region and head to barracks. No official statement from the Defense Force yet.
