Toronto – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced on Thursday that he met with military generals to discuss pressing national and regional security issues.
“Met with the Generals of our National Defense Forces this afternoon to discuss national and regional peace and security issues,” Abiy Ahmed stated on his social media page, though he did not provide further details.
The meeting comes amid escalating tensions, particularly following an attack by the militant group Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Sululta, a town on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. The attack resulted in the death of the town’s administration officials.
Meanwhile, some military leaders have expressed concerns over the growing strain on the armed forces due to prolonged local conflicts. Brigadier General Kenede Regasa, who spoke at the Ethiopian parliament last month, emphasized the need for political dialogue, stating that the army is exhausted from extended military engagements.
“The army is exhausted and needs a break. Politicians must sit down and talk,” General Regasa urged during his address.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and military leaders highlights the ongoing challenges Ethiopia faces in maintaining peace and security amid rising internal and regional tension.

In fact the government army has suffered heavy losses in materials and soldiers in the Tigray war. It was the Biden adminstration that saved the government and allowed it to stay in power. It is the defeated and weakened army that is fighting with poor leadership and moral against the Amhara forces. The Eritrean officers that commanded the government army in Tigray are not supporting th. The regional power Tigray can unseat the government swiftly if the need to do so becomes necessary but will not let the Amhara forces occupy Oromia. Oromia is the gift of Tigray to the Oromo people and will be defended.
@Digital Tigraway (infact digital Woyane)
Amhara forces have NO intention of occupying Oromia.
Please stop lying.
I just discovered that the area which has been enamored with a series of earthquakes, Awash and Metahara vicinity just got hit with the strongest tremor to-date at 6.0. That is what has been worrying me. 6.0 is very strong that can destroy an entire village or town like Awash and Metahara where houses are built with no quake minded building codes. May The Almighty Save our people!!!
