Ethiopia’s Lemi National Cement Plant has announced that it has officially begun dispatching its products to the market. In its post on Facebook, the company said it was a pleasure to present its high-quality product to the public for use.
Lemi National Cement was inaugurated last month by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. While commencing the distribution of its cement to the local market for construction purposes, the company said they were thankful for the support received from the government and community.
Located 130 km from Addis Ababa, the company prides itself on using state-of-the-art laboratories, utilizing high-quality ingredients to manufacture cement, and employing only qualified professionals. Thus, it assures the public that its cement product is of the highest standard.
With its capacity to produce 10,000 tons per day, Lemi National Cement says it aims to fulfill its responsibility of supplying cement to the whole country and other countries and stabilize the cement market by curbing the gap between demand and supply. Cement supply will create jobs and have a positive impact on Ethiopia’s economic development.
Lemi National Cement Factory is a company formed through a joint venture between East African Holding and West African Holding. Other partners such as National Cement Company, and West China Cement/ International Holding Company Ltd have also signed an agreement with the joint venture to contribute $2.2 Billion for different stages in the projects. The initial phase of the project is estimated at $600 million, has six projects under it, and is built on 270 hectares of land.
Some projects in the first phase in already commissioned including the development of an aggregate production plant and a Batching plant while Dire Dawa two lines each with a capacity of 700,000 TPA Steel products is in progress, according statement available on the company’s website.
To stabilize the cement market in Ethiopia, Lemi National Cement Plant expects that East African Holding alone will cover over 50% demand for cement in Ethiopia.
Also to improve its production operations, the Ethiopian Cement factory announced that it was able to import 44 modern heavy vehicles into the country to facilitate the transportation of cement materials between the production plant and the storage facility.
Within the Lemi National Cement plant, there are various sectors within which includes Cement manufacturing, the largest cement factory in Africa. Other sections are Metal products like steel production, construction materials such as making concrete, Real estate development for constructing sustainable affordable housing in Ethiopia, a mining section, and an industrial hub section for developing construction materials.
