Done strike mostly targets residential areas and civilians. Ethiopian government denies.

Toronto – The latest report from the Amhara Association of America, released earlier this week, indicates that the Ethiopian government carried out 72 drone strikes across the Amhara region of Ethiopia over a span of two months.
The strikes reportedly resulted in civilian casualties.
The Association stated, “The incidents were reported across 38 woreda administrations in 10 zonal administrations of Amhara Region” between September 25 and November 23 this year.
During the period cited, “434 casualties were recorded, including 321 persons killed and 113 injured, with the majority being civilians. Among the victims were young children, women, and elderly persons,” according to the report.
Detailed recordings of the incidents and casualties are available here.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has been intensifying drone and airstrikes in the Amhara region over the past few months, as previously reported by Borkena. Read more here.
According to Fano forces, the Defense Force resorted to drone and airstrikes after recurring losses in infantry-based battles in different parts of the Amhara region.
Ethiopian Defense Force has been denying extensive use of drone in the conflict in Amhara region.
This week, the Defense Force claimed that Fano forces sustained severe losses and that “their fighting morale is dropping.” It also claimed, referring to Fano as an “extremist group” , group is now isolated from the people in the region—a claim that appears inconsistent with credible reports indicating that most of the Amhara region is still under Fano forces’ control.
Fano forces have dismissed the government’s narratives as propaganda.
There are also reports that political efforts are underway within Fano forces to unite all groups from four areas in the Amhara region under a single command structure. A recent report by Anchor Media suggests there is considerable optimism about this initiative.
Meanwhile, senior Defense Force commanders are reportedly holding a meeting in Debre Berhan, the seat of the North Shoa Administration.
According to local sources, Lt. General Shuma Abdeta, Commander of the Airborne and Commando Force and Chairperson of the Central Shoa Command Post, is leading the meeting. He was cited as saying, “Fano forces’ spine is broken, and their morale is falling.”
The Defense Force has vowed to withdraw from the Amhara region if the Fano forces are not entirely defeated by the end of December this year. This was reportedly communicated during a meeting with government officials of the Amhara region in Bahir Dar earlier this month.
